THE SUPERVISORY BOARD APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS OF THE SIJ D.D. MANAGEMENT BOARD

 

Ljubljana, Friday, 23 February 2018 – The Supervisory Board of the SIJ d.d. yesterday unanimously named new Management Board members – Igor Malevanov and Tibor Šimonka received full terms.

The members of the Supervisory Board appointed new members of the Management Board for a full six-year term – Tibor Šimonka and Igor Malevanov. Both were employed by SIJ d.d. and the SIJ Group for more than ten years in the past, so they are well acquainted with their operations. With their work, they have both contributed already to the successful management and operations of the Group, and with their return, the SIJ Group is seeing the return of experience, which will help the largest Slovenian metallurgical group in continuing its successful operations.

Also, Tibor Šimonka continues his term as President of the Management Board of Perutnina Ptuj d.d., which has been a part of the SIJ Group since 2016, and has operated stably and successfully under Mr Šimonka’s management.

This means that the Management Board of SIJ d.d. now has four members –  alongside Tibor Šimonka and Igor Malevanov, acting member Dmitrii Bochkarev and the President of the Management Board Andrey Zubitskiy, both of who continue their terms unimpeded.

The members of the SIJ d.d. Supervisory Board met for the first time yesterday, after the general assembly held on 19 February 2018 elected mostly new members. Besides naming new members of the SIJ d.d. Management Board, a new president of the Supervisory Board and his deputy were also elected – Evgeny Zverev and Janko Jenko, respectively.

Tibor Šimonka holds a degree from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. During his career, he has held several managerial positions in various companies, including CEO, deputy CEO, and CFO, getting a detailed knowledge of the SIJ Group in the process. Between 1999 and 2002, he was a member of the finance and economics board at Slovenian Steelworks d.d. (currently the Slovenian Steel Group). He has managed SIJ d.d. and the SIJ Group as President of the Management Board between 2002 and 2014.

From June 2014, he spent a year and a half as the authorised representative of the crediting banks in the structural adjustment process and the search for a strategic partner – investor for Perutnina Ptuj d.d. Based on the decision of the shareholders of Perutnina Ptuj d.d., the Supervisory Board appointed him as President of the Management Board of Perutnina Ptuj d.d. on 25 January 2016. Tibor Šimonka became a member of the SIJ d.d. Management Board on 22 February 2018.

Igor Malevanov holds a degree from the faculty of economics at the Belarusian State University. During his studies, he worked in several Russian companies, specialising in insurance and financial matters until 2000. In 2001, he joined the Koks group as the CFO for the group’s affiliate companies. In 2004, he became the head of the financial department at IMH – the Industrial Metallurgical Holding, founded in 2002. Between 2007 and 25 June 2017, he was the Director of the financial, economic, and IT department at the SIJ Group. Igor Malevanov rejoined the SIJ Group Management Board as a member on 22 February 2018.

The SIJ Group is the largest Slovenian vertically integrated metallurgical group, ranked among the top market positions in the European and world niche steel markets. In addition to metallurgy (its core business), the SIJ Group is also involved in the food industry (the Perutnina Ptuj Group) and employs close to 7,500 people in Slovenia and abroad. The SIJ Group generated 763.5 million Euros in revenues in the first nine months of 2017 (a 19.7% increase compared to the same period of the previous year), an EBITDA of 78.8 million Euros (similar to the same period of the previous year of 78.4 million Euros), and a net profit of 13.7 million Euros. In the third quarter of 2017, the SIJ Group maintained its high profitability, since the EBITDA margin was at 10.3% for the first nine months of 2017, keeping it above the industry average in metallurgy and in the food industry.
