SIJ RAVNE SYSTEMS OPENED THE DOORS FOR CHILDREN OF EMPLOYEES DURING THE TEACHER’S STRIKE
"We at SIJ Ravne Systems, the SIJ Group, have certainly decided in favour of the campaign "A day at work instead of school” in order to take care of our employees’ children on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, during the teacher’s strike”, explained Samo Jenič, the director of SIJ Ravne Systems, who considers the campaign as an excellent opportunity: "At the same time, we ensure a special adventure for the children as they can spend the whole day with one of their parents “at work”. Last but not least, it is also the right moment to present technical professions to children, some of them will make decisions about the further education in a few years.”
The initiator of the campaign is Polona Marzel Ahac, a specialist for corporate communications at SIJ Ravne Systems. “The employees were enthusiastic about the event, organized by us, three colleagues at SIJ Ravne Systems. We accepted almost 30 children aged six to twelve. They experienced a colourful and interesting day with us. Volunteer colleagues became babysitters for one day, trained animators took care of funny games,“ she shared with us.
After the morning care, organized from 5.45 and followed by breakfast, the children visited the company SIJ Ravne Sytems. In the large boardroom they had a "meeting" with the director Samo Jenič. Then they discovered the company and visited working places of their parents. A little bit tired, but full of new impressions, they had a lunch at the workers’ canteen. Then they had been resting and playing games at the closest playground "Čukov svet" until 15.45, when their parents came.
Children were very impressed by this day, the same is true for their parents. In addition to the fact that SIJ Ravne Systems might have solved a problem of care for many employees, they also prepared an unforgettable day for children. They learned about technical and other professions, steel products and working environment of their parents. May be in the future one of them becomes not only an employee’s child, but a member of the team.
In SIJ Ravne Systems, they are almost sure that there will be no need in a similar campaign in the future and that the teachers will not strike any more. In case of necessity, they will timely consider and make the best decision how to take care of the children.
