Ljubljana and Ravne na Koroškem, 22 December 2021 – On 1 January 2022, the position of Managing Director at SIJ Metal Ravne will be assumed by the current CFO, Jernej Močnik. The current Managing Director, Borut Urnaut, is continuing his professional path in the company, where he will remain part of the executive management team with his rich knowledge and work experience.

After the end of his two-year mandate, the current Managing Director of SIJ Metal Ravne, Borut Urnaut, has informed the Management Board of the SIJ Group that he would no longer lead the second largest steel company in the SIJ Group. He remains part of the company’s exclusive management team to work closely with the new Managing Director and the team of SIJ Metal Ravne in the development of new products and markets.

In 2022, the management of the company will be assumed by the economist Jernej Močnik. Mr. Močnik has been employed at SIJ Metal Ravne as Chief Financial Officer since September 2020 and boasts more than 20 years of experience in the banking sector, where he has cooperated with the SIJ Group as Executive Director of Corporate Banking. Thus, Jernej Močnik is very familiar with the company’s operations. With the handover of the business, he will become more closely acquainted with the projects and activities in all other fields in order to successfully lead the company.

The new Managing Director is taking over the management of SIJ Metal Ravne after a successful year and during an intense investment cycle with the goal of pursuing the ambitious plans of the company in the coming year.

According to unaudited business data, in the first half of 2021, the SIJ Group generated EUR 451.6 million in sales revenue (24.4% more than during the same period last year) and EBITDA of EUR 43.6 million (91% more than during the same period last year). In the first half of 2021, the Group allocated EUR 29.1 million for investments (EUR 10 million more than during the same period last year). In the first six months of 2021, the SIJ Group operated positively and generated a profit of EUR 10 million.
