More reliable electricity supply for SIJ

21.12.2011

Metal Ravne, SIJ Group – By signing the agreement on rehabilitation of flicker (voltage oscillations) in the premises of Ravne (ZGO Ravne) on 21 December 2011, Metal Ravne, SIJ – Slovenian Steel Group, and Elektro-Slovenija (ELES) bound to make an investment into the connecting overhead power lines and 220kV switching substation with transformation 220/110kV. The total value of the investment is approximately € 8 million; ELES invests € 6 million and Metal Ravne € 2 million. Beside the increased reliability of electricity supply for Metal Ravne, the investment will increase also the quality of electricity supply for other clients in the region. The fulfilment of the agreement represents also the long-term development support of the entire region of Koroška.

The agreement defines the technical solution framework, the way of financing, and time plan. The investment into the connecting overhead power lines and 220kV switching substation with transformation 220/110kV will abolish limitations regarding the possibilities for increase in consumption and will grant Metal Ravne an adequate connection of high-performance electroslag remelting plant (EPŽ 3) to the network. All of this will enable Metal Ravne a completely new company development in the field of connection power. The substation with the connecting overhead power line will be looped into the existing overhead power line DV 200kV Podlog-Obersielach. Based on the long-term placing of facilities in physical space, we plan that the construction permit will have been granted by 2015. The overhead power line construction itself will most likely last one year. The agreement is important for increasing the productivity and quality of electricity transfer. Consequently it will enable a long-term development of the industry or manufacturing activity in the industrial area Ravne-Revalje, in the region of Koroška and in the entire Slovenia.
